Today I want to talk to you about the latest Facebook craze, no makeup selfies.
I think this originally began last year with the company Escentual asking ladies to bare their naked faces for a campaign. But in the last week it has taken off as a way of raising awareness for cancer (some say breast cancer others cancer in general).
My Facebook feed this morning was full of my beautiful friends, minus their makeup, declaring it was all in aid of raising awareness for cancer research. Brilliant, but something was missing. All bar one, in their original posting had missed out the bit where they said they had donated to the cause and actually posted a link to where others can donate. Since this morning, their friends, and I have highlighted this omission and to their credit, most of them have donated or at least posted a link.
I have seen many people defending the selfies with the answer that it’s all about awareness, but is this enough? Surely we’re all aware that cancer exists?
So the question I want to ask you is, do you agree with this latest movement? Do you think the selfies should continue but with the addition of a donation or are the selfies enough?
Leave me a comment and let me know.
