A Year Of Gifts – Intro

December is a busy month for birthdays in my world. Friends, Mum, boyfriend, boyfriends’ family, more friends, the list goes on! I really try not to give these December babies joint birthday/Christmas presents as I don’t think that’s fair (unless it’s a really big present!).

My boyfriend’s birthday is two days after Christmas Day, meaning it can sometimes all get tangled together in a whirlwind of celebrations and presents. So this year I decided to do something a bit different, and give him a present that will last all year.

On his birthday, he had a large envelope to open. Inside this envelope was a letter and 12 smaller envelopes, each labelled with a month name. He was instructed to read the letter first as it had all the instructions needed for his present.

The letter explained that he wasn’t just getting one birthday present, he was in fact getting twelve!
Each month (on the 1st) he will be opening an envelope to reveal that months’ present in the form of a voucher created by me. I can’t say what the future vouchers are in case he’s reading this, but I will be revealing each month’s present as he opens them!

I was a little mean as he was allowed to open the large envelope on his birthday, but wasn’t allowed to open the Janurary envelope until the 1st! But now he has opened it, I can reveal the voucher for Janurary is…

A ‘first train anywhere date’ is very simple to explain. You simply get up early one weekend, pop down to the train station, and buy tickets to the first destination on the departures board! Then you travel to that place, spend the day there, discovering and trying new things and come back in the evening, simple!

I will of course be blogging about each months’ present, so keep your eyes peeled to see where we end up this month!
