Whilst we were away over the Christmas and New Year period, we visited a fantastic antiques house in a town called Frederick, Maryland.
It was a beautiful three story town house that was stuffed with antiques and new products that complimented the older ones.
The house was still decorated as a house and each item had relevance to the room it was in, with decanters and wine glasses in the dining room and decorative trinkets and chairs in the living room.
But it wasthe bathroom I loved the most. Decorated in a deep navy blue with a gold claw footed bath and gold accents – it was just stunning.
Thinking about the bathroom in our house, we had already started decorating it in with navy blue, such as the towels and other bit and pieces but I was inspired by the antiques house to go a step further. I’m now looking into painting the two walls that aren’t tiled, this will mean the navy isn’t too overwhelming as our bathroom is much smaller than the antiques house one.
Gold accents are easy to come by these days as they seem to be having a moment in various home stores. So I’ll be adding to the navy and gold scheme with some gold candles, and perhaps something like this gold coral print.
