Today’s post is something a little bit different. A few weeks ago Molly from Lyon Notes was asking on twitter for people to get involved in her campaign to raise awareness of mental health. The idea is that a series of bloggers, including myself, help to raise awareness of mental health issues through nail art!
Mental illness still gets a bad rap these days, but that really shouldn’t be the case. According to the mental health charity Mind, 1 in 4 people* will suffer from a mental health problem in any given year, so if this is something you suffer from, please know that you are not alone.
It’s a hard thing to do but we need to get talking about mental health issues, making people aware and letting those who suffer know that they’re not alone and that help is available. This is why I’m #GettingArtyForAnxiety
So here is my nail art for #GettingArtyForAnxiety.
I’m no artist, but I quite like the imperfect look! It’s quite hard to think of a design that represents yourself, so in the end I thought I’d attempt a design that I feel most people can relate to, the ups and downs of life.
Life isn’t perfect, it can get a little choppy, and sometimes we have to swim through the dark water (where we can’t put our feet down) to the lighter waters where we can stand. It’s a simple message but I think it’s important for people to know that things will get better. They may take time and a lot of emotion and effort but there is hope.
