I emptied them all out into a pile in the middle of my bedroom floor and was slightly annoyed to find colours I didn’t even know I had. Cue eBay.
I searched for clear nail fans and managed to buy 100 nail sticks for the princely sum of £3.95 inc p&p from China. Feeling smug I waited for them to arrive. And waited. And waited. And waited. Now I know paying that little for a product and postage & packaging you wouldn’t expect next day delivery, but a MONTH? Slightly excessive I feel. If you do decide to buy these through eBay, just make sure you check the delivery time before you buy if you’re desperate for them to arrive.
The swatches finally arrived on Friday last week. 50 per pack with a bolt and a little nut to screw on the end.
I spent the afternoon swatching my 74 nail polishes, and I was pretty smug about the fact that I only had 2 dupes.
And it’s pretty clear I’m a fan of pink.
I organised mine by colour, darkest swatch of each colour to the lightest, with nudes, golds, silvers and effects on another swatch bar.
I painted the underside of each swatch with two coats (some three depending on how thick the polishes are). Reason being that this way you don’t have to apply a topcoat as the plastic acts as a top coat when the colour shows through from the underside! Nifty. And of course wrote the make and colour name on each stick with a permanent marker.
Now these sit in my makeup drawer and I can see my full range of colours, meaning some of the forgotten about ones may actually get used!
