Our Wedding – My Dress & The Outfits

All photographs by Kerry Morgan, our incredible wedding photographer.

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you’ll know that back in August 2016 I married my best friend. We were married in London surrounded by our friends and family – the best day of our lives so far.

I’m so excited to finally blog about our wedding day and share with you all the details. From the dress to the flowers and all in between but there’s far too much (and too many pictures!) for one post. So I’ve decided to do a little series focussing on different aspects of the day over a few posts. I’ve had a lot of questions about my dress, so I thought wedding outfits was a good place to start!

My dress was Omette from the Victoria Jane collection by Ronald Joyce. I was so excited to go wedding dress shopping with my Mum and I had such a lovely experience trying on dresses at Sofi Designs Bridal in Basingstoke.

I’ve always known what style of dress I wanted –  princess style, tulle and maybe a hint of lace and sparkle. I knew that I wanted something that would always look classic in photos and make me feel amazing. I tried on around 6 dresses at Sofi Designs but the Omette really stood out for me. Plus it was the only one that made my Mum cry! That said, it still took me three more try ons of the dress before I committed to it – I wanted to be absolutely sure. I kept accessories simple with a ribbon edged cathedral length veil and silver small heeled sandals from Pink by Paradox.

With a bit of sparkle on the waistline I wanted to keep my jewellery simple. I wore my engagement ring and the most gorgeous pair of matching earrings that Nick gave me on the morning of the wedding.

My gorgeous husband and the other male members of the wedding party wore morning dress hired from TM Lewin (a service they no longer provide). Nick wore a beautiful buttercup yellow handmade waistcoat from Andy & Tuly Ltd which was gifted to him by my brother. The other members of the wedding party wore dove grey waistcoats (from TM Lewin) so Nick really stood out. His shoes were from Loake and his shirt was from Charles Tyrwhitt. Their ties were a mixture of TM Lewin and Hawes & Curtis with cornflower blue pocket squares from Slaters.

From the very beginning I had a definite idea of what sort of dresses I wanted for my bridesmaids. I chose beautiful long cornflower blue dresses from Debenhams. The soft tulle overlay reminded me of my own dress, whilst the high but sheer neckline meant they didn’t need cover-ups in church. The girls all wore flat silver embellished sandals meaning they were comfy whilst on their feet all day and didn’t need to loose their shoes for dancing!

Coming soon: The flowers, the venues, the cake and my hair & makeup!
