White Wedding

This weekend I will be heading off to Bristol with my better half to celebrate the wedding of some friends. This past week I’ve been opening my wardrobe doors, hoping that inspiration will jump out at me and I will suddenly know what I want to wear. But one colour I know I’ll be avoiding? White.

During August my social media was inundated with friends and fellow bloggers posting their wedding guest outfits for all to see. Some went for hats, others for fasciantors, some boho and others body con dresses, but one thing I did notice was a lot of their outfits were white.

So the question I want to ask is, is it ever right to wear white to a wedding (when you’re not the bride!)?

You might shout a resounding NO, but are there ever weddings where it would be acceptable? For example, if it was an Indian wedding, where it’s almost certain that the bride will be wearing red, would you brave it and be the one wearing white?

A wedding guest is there to celebrate the day of the happy couple, they’re not there to have all the attention on them. Recently at Millie Mackintosh and Professor Green’s wedding, a couple of the Made In Chelsea girls turned up in white. There was a mixed response, some praising them for being brave and fashion forward and others shocked that they would have the gall to wear the colour of the bride.

I want to know what you think. Would you ever wear white to a wedding, or do you think it’s a faux pas too far?
